2nd Lt Richard Torres was only 25 years old when his convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device while on combat patrol in Baghdad, Iraq. Torres was assigned to 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. 2nd Lt Torres died on October 6, 2003. We have had the honor and privilege of being a part of DJs life for almost 10 years. [We took his son DJ Darian to his first TAPS Grief Camp Memorial weekend 2012 and then we drove a couple of States away so he could spend time with his Grandpa Torres who he had not seen in 6 years and stood by as the two of them eyes streaming with tears as they silently decorated the resting place of this hero. DJ had never had the opportunity to visit his fathers grave. In loving memory of Torres service and ultimate sacrifice. We love you!!
