30 Days of Thanksgiving Day 15: I am thankful for a busy day. - TopicsExpress

30 Days of Thanksgiving Day 15: I am thankful for a busy day. Even though I have my feet propped up at the moment is just a normal end of the day relaxing pose rather than having a migraine or being unable to balance. I was up at 4 this morning with people I love on my mind. I had time to sit and think/pray in silence, then work on some genealogy for a friend before Trace got up. Once Trace was off to school, I was wrapping up a research project when Billy came into the living room and said, Ive been thinking about something. No smoke was coming out of his ears, so I was surprised when he said, Im going to Pet Smart. I want that purple parakeet I saw last night. What? Another pet? Are you kidding me. But he had made up his mind, so off he went. Oy vey, what has gotten into that man! By 1:30 I was at Primary Care for my injections. While I was waiting to check in, this gook looking young man waved at me and I thought I knew him. Wow, it still feels strange when I see former students who are all grown up. When did that happen? It turned out to be Clint Cornelison whom I had not seen in a few years. Though we did not have long to talk, it was great to see him and hear about his active, creative life while appraising antiques and working at Playhouse in the Park. I finished putting shopping from last night away and cleaned the kitchen while they were gone, then prepared for doctors appointment. By 2:00 all 36 injections were done and we were on the road for Lyon County with Kevin serving as my driver. First we went to visit Grandfather Willis Redd. He was resting comfortably and opened his eyes, but he seems so frail compared to 2 weeks ago. Marcia Brittain Woolf and his son Willis Redd II are caring for him in his apartment. Hospice is going to help, but as Willie said, I just dont him to suffer. Willis will spend his last days surrounded by those he loves in his little apartment which he has been so happy in. They have his hospital bed facing the double doors so he can see the bird feeder and his feathered friends. We have decided we are not going to take Trace to see him. Instead he can remember Grandfather Willis as he was during their last visit. He understands Grandfather Willis is sick and he has asked if he is going to die. Because we are older and we have lost people, we have always answered his questions about death. He also knows Grandfather Willis is a Christian and he will go to Heaven where he will be able to walk, run, and have no pain. Trace said, I bet he goes fishing with Jesus when he gets there. After we left Willis, we went to the Christian Care Center to see Annetta. Her hands are no longer drawn, but she is still in a reclining wheelchair. She has gained weight and is eating very well at the moment. Six weeks ago she was on a soft only or liquid diet. I fed her a cup of ice cream while I was there. I know she will never be able to leave the nursing home and her dementia means she does not always finish her thoughts, but she is better today that she was six weeks ago when she did not recognize hardly anyone and slept nearly all the time. Like so many other Lawrences and their descendants, she has proven the doctors wrong. I will admit I thought she would not be here, but despite how fragile she looks, she has a strong wheel to live. She ask me to get her out of there and when I explained I couldnt, she stuck her tongue out at me...lol. Another Lawrence trait. As the day wraps up, there are still people on my mind. Maggie Taylor is only her way to spend time with her very ill father and her family there. My daughter has an upcoming business trip, so I am praying for a safe journey to Gaitlinburg, Tennessee...wish I could be a mouse in her pocket. There are also unspoken prayer request for my family and friends. Know you are all in my thoughts tonight.
