#37: Susanne by Weezer Only one other Weezer song makes it higher on the list than this one, so it’s interesting that “Susanne” doesn’t actually come from an official Weezer album. Written for the soundtrack to the film Mallrats, “Susanne” plays during the ending montage of that movie while we discover the fates of all its main characters. Say what you will about Mallrats, it’s got a killer soundtrack. “Susanne” is almost reminiscent of a doo-wop group or something from the 50s style of music, but with an alternative rock update. It’s filled with Weezer’s usual touches; references to other rock bands, lines about being mopey and depressed. But it’s got a punchy chorus and a sweet sense of fun.
