4 In my candid opinion.NYSC scheme should be scraped and let potential graduates be settled with 500k.the scheme has long lost its goal in uniting,exposing corp members to culture and traditions of other region.i think the only reason the scheme has remained is the opportunity it creats for the DGs,state cordinators,camp directors and other nysc office holders to enrich themselves and not for the goodness of corp members or preservations of the scheme. Imagine they claime each corp members cost them a whole of #1.2 million but its actually less than #300,000 i calculated from: 1 crested vest,1 jungle booth,2 white plain vest,2 white shorts.2 stockings.1 nysc cap,1 khaki jacket,1 khaki trouser + #300 worth of daily meal.+ 19,800 monthly allowee,transport & bicycle allowance. I therefore move the motion for the scheme to be scraped or let corp members serve in their region;northern ers should mandate to serve in the north and southerners should also serve in the south to contain the security challenges most coppers face in distant land.moreover, while in camp,all those military training like night fire alarms,endurance treking,severe and repeatedly parading under the sun or in the rain,treating corp members as if they are nobody by the soldiers especially the camp commandant,. congestions of corp members in blocks that lack living facilities and comfort must be abolished.there must be a constant maintainance of toilet facilities that has pipes that supply water for bathing and toiletry.there must be a steady supply of power and water. coppers must be fed in quality food with drink ,there shouldnt be room for levity. and there must be a limited time for parading and lectures while sleeping and sports time should be increased, comfortable accommodation after camp must be provided and most importantly, allowee must be increased to 50k and those cds programmes should be 100% practicable.this is my mind.what do you guys think?
