4 years ago this was written as an answer to a Maldonado kind of a question Adoption doesnt promise a better life, just a different one. Unfortunately a fathers rights are too often shoved aside and ignored in infant adoption. Why would you not want your daughter to be with her father? Why are the adoptive parents fighting this when they know this is obviously not what both parents feel is right for their child? Who is paying for your lawyer, you or the adoptive parents? That makes a huge difference in the information you receive and the accuracy of what you are told. Sadly, he will probably have to go to court to fight for his own daughter. I think, like the other poster mentioned though, it will be in the state where you signed the relinquishment papers as the adoption obviously hasnt been finalized yet so there shouldnt be jurisdiction in the state of residence for the adoptive parents. These situations are heart-breaking and I wish there were more rights given to fathers when it comes to surrendering their infants for adoption. Unless its been proven that he will cause harm to his daughter, there is absolutely no reason why he should not be allowed to raise her. by CdraBella
