42nd Street is a mental health charity based in Ancoats and working with young people under stress (aged 11-25). We have been based in our purpose built home in Ancoats since 2012 and now have the opportunity to develop a Victorian shop on our site into a three floor space to enhance the work that we do with young people and also create opportunities to work with partner organisations and local individuals and groups. We are interested in how we can use the shop as a social space and a place where we can work with the histories of the people and spaces that make up Ancoats past and present. The shop is on the corner of Great Ancoats Street and Jersey Street and was recently used for the Horsefalling project.
