#4341 Dont ask for death, ...it is NOT a relief! The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, No one of you should wish for death because of some harm that has befallen him. Saheeh al-Bukharee The terror of seeing ones end is very difficult; mankind faces nothing else like it! ...Moreover, no one knows what awaits him after death. Wishing for death is actually seeking something which is unknown; perhaps you may end up like the one who jumps out of the frying pan and lands into the fire, ...after death you may find yourself in an even worse situation! Aaishah (radhi allahu anha) narrates, It was said, O Messenger of Allaah, so-and-so has died, and has found relief. The Messenger of Allah got angry and said, Only the one who is forgiven finds relief. as-Silsilah al-Saheehah (1710) ...Death deprives you of the opportunity to do more good deeds, it deprives you from the chance to repent and make up for what you have missed - A long life is good for the believer! The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, No one of you should wish for death or pray for it before it comes; because when one of you dies, his good deeds come to an end and for the believer, a long life will not increase him in anything except good. [Saheeh Muslim (2682)] A version narrated by al- Bukhaaree says, No one of you should wish for death. Either he is a doer of good and he will do more, or he is a doer of evil, and perhaps he may stop/repent. ...so, if you are ever compelled by the hardships of life, remember this Duaa taught by the Prophet, ﺎَﻣ ﻲِﻨِﻴْﺣَﺃ َّﻢﻬَّﻠﻟﺍ ُﺓﺎَﻴَﺤْﻟﺍ ْﺖَﻧﺎَﻛ ،ﻲِﻟ ً ﺍﺮْﻴَﺧ ﺍَﺫِﺇ ﻲِﻨَّﻓَﻮَﺗَﻭ ْﺖَﻧﺎَﻛ َﺓﺍَﻑَﻮﻟﺍُﺓﺎَﻓَﻮْﻟﺍ ﻲِﻟً ﺍﺮْﻴَﺧ Al-Lahumma Aĥyinī Mā Kaanat Al-Ĥayāatu Khayrāan Lī, Wa Tawaffanī Idhā Kaanat Al- Wafāatu Khayrāan Lī. O Allaah, keep me alive so long as life is good for me, and cause me to die when death is good for me. - Agreed upon ** Jazakallah
