4th Forum Macau Ministerial Conference held on 5 and 6 November The 4th ministerial conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macau), usually known as Forum Macau, is scheduled to take place in Macau on 5 and 6 November of this year, according to an official announcement. The conference’s schedule of work includes, along with the ministerial conference itself, a meeting of businesspeople from China and the Portuguese-speaking countries as well as a contact platform on projects of the Fund for Development Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries as part of Forum Macau. In the ten years since Forum Macau was founded, China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries have jointly developed a number of cooperation areas including trade, investment, agriculture, human resources, tourism, the pharmaceutical industry and health and culture. According to Forum Macau, all sides have striven for common development and mutual benefit by increasing economic and trade cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries. Themed “New cycle, new opportunities,” the 4th ministerial conference of Forum Macau will attempt to consolidate the results seen so far and will be guided by the principles of pragmatism and efficiency. It will also sign off the Action Plan for Economic and Trade Cooperation for 2013-2016, which will establish the objectives and areas of cooperation between China and seven Portuguese-speaking countries – Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and Timor-Leste (East Timor). The conference will also give greater focus to Macau’s role as a platform to link mainland China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.
