5 May 2014 Press Release On 3 May 2014, Riek Machar had detained the leadership of the Democratic Revolutionary Alliance Forces of South Sudan (DRA) in Pagak/Upper Nile State. This is a declaration of war against DRA, and a frightening development in the DRA-SPLM-In-Opposition alliance. The leaderships of DRA and SPLM-In-Opposition agreed in principle to fight the Juba leadership. It is unfortunate that Riek Machar took such a frightening turn. It is shameful for Riek to turn oppressor while fighting an oppressor. In my capacity as the Acting Deputy Commander-In-Chief of the DRA armed forces, I am seriously warning Riek Machar not to play with fire, and urging him to release the leadership of DRA within 48 hours to avoid further rift within the rebel movements. This ultimatum must be executed without condition of any kind! I also urge DRA fighters and supporters to remain calm and vigilant, and wait patiently for the resolution of the High Command Council.
