5 minutes of an American birth program and I am cringing and can barely watch!! We dont realize how good we have it here. When your healthy baby is born it is put straight on your chest and stays there uninterrupted for an hour, skin to skin with Mama... no suction in the nose or mouth, no blanket on Mama for the baby to lie on, no awful eye ointment or bundling baby up so the only skin you see or feel is its face and mostly no immediate cutting of the chord. Glad to be a doula in NL... long may the natural process remain normal!!
