5 month old Lab mix Lucy was pulled from a kill shelter in Swainsboro Georgia by Home for Good in November 2014. Upon arrival in New Jersey, we learned that sweet, shy Lucy had a femoral neck fracture in her left leg. Two days ago Lucy underwent intensive $3,000 surgery to resection the femoral head and neck of her leg. Lucy has a patch for pain, which will stay on until January 4th in an effort to keep her as comfortable as possible. This pup will be back with her foster family for the two week recovery process, at which point her sutures can be removed and she will begin physical therapy. The first thing Lucy did when she came back from a 30 hour stay at the Vets post surgery was wag her tail and give happy kisses to her foster mom. The road to recovery is a long one for this patient, loving dog, but Home for Good will ensure that she is given all necessary treatment and overwhelmed with love through the entire process.
