500 Daily Meanwhile.. Always loved the use of the term meanwhile. Though, you’ll hear the word meanwhile used in conversation, it is used less and less. Though, the term meanwhile is still, relevant, most people have dropped its usage in their most common form of speaking. The term, was never stylish in daily language, but it was used; it really didn’t become outdated, like ‘Groovy’ or even Cat and Chick. Meanwhile, never really makes a statement. It is just a part of one. Though it does have significance, in that it is an enhancer. It does serve well as a place holder. Like hold that thought ..or put you finger there .. The place that the word/term meanwhile has the most frequency, is in either literature, or media. Think back if you will, to the old time westerns as an example. Cliché usage, such as .. meanwhile, back at the ranch .. is a typical verbal graphic of its primetime place in the world! A place holder. It is used when the audience has been led to be focused in a situation. Then you are now being beckoned to leave your current situation or place and immediately go somewhere else. Sometimes, in our fast paced world of multi-tasking, meanwhile, serves a purpose too. It is interchangeable, with the term, in the meantime. People will say or do things while waiting for the glue to dry, so to speak. Meanwhile, think a nap may be in order.. or meanwhile, in the meantime.. The Rolling Stones, for one, have given meanwhile, a bit of notoriety. ‘ ..meanwhile ..I was still thinkin’ .. Believe T-Rex, copied and only God knows where the Rolling Stones got it. Could be they did conjure it up. Hard to tell, they messed with so many styles of music; the Blues, in particular. Meanwhile, Meanwhile, is used to highlight and show contrast in events or a juxtaposition. It is not uncommon to hear a newscaster speak about some doom and gloom in one place, than take us a completely different scene, in all aspects and report on it. Makes for good effect, if done well. Of course, when there is a crisis, Meanwhile, takes us from location to location attempting to bring us information from all areas concerned and then some. Hurricanes, especially, after Hurricane Andrew, are reported in great detail. The meanwhile’s here can save lives. Ever have to wait on something? of course, most of us have. But what about the big stuff? People that have faith and put it into practice, must wait on God. We hope that the breakthrough that we are waiting on in faith, will not tarry. We want everything now. Truth is that we don’t get everything immediately, or when we want it, meanwhile, can seem like, or perhaps become, a lifetime. It isn’t up to us entirely. Sure, we have our part, but we can’t do it all; we’re not meant to. So , what do we do when the wait is more than what we consider reasonable? What do we do in the meanwhile? It almost seems like the meanwhile, especial if it lingers on for years, decades, could be a rather mean time. Though it is difficult at times, when it comes to the Lord, stand and wait on his promises.
