The Greyhound chases the rabbit, you chase the carrot. The winning greyhound gets a pat on the head. The losers get only teased. Chasing a golden carrot usually doesn’t pay off. Just a simple come on. Remember the old adage: If it seems/sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Who doesn’t like to be rewarded? Rewards in and of themselves are terrific! They are the spice of life. In life we have ample opportunity to be rewarded. Sometimes rewarded with simply a bit of gratitude. Here’s the trick, when a gratitude is shown to you, even if it is simply a nod, be gracious and accept it; who knows what could, will develop from such a small, almost insignificant beginning. Sometimes, it is nice to do things to help another, or to do it, just because it is the right thing to do. Case in point: There was an insurance salesman that lived and worked in Rochester NY. One day many years ago he received a call from an older woman. She needed him to come by her home and take care of some service work that she needed done. There was no profit motive for the salesman. Still, he cheerfully went and took care of the older woman’s business. Unbeknownst to the salesman at the time was that this older woman in need of her agents help, a chore that would make him no money to speak of had a wealthy son. The son was so impressed with the unselfish act of his mothers insurance salesman and his professionalism, that he offered him all the group insurance and more with the large company that he owned. The moral: Do the right thing and you will always be rewarded, in one fashion or another. In reality, everything in life brings a reward or a penalty. If you haven’t considered this concept before, do it soon. It will put it all into perspective. The golden carrot in life often is found in our achievements. There of course, might be all sorts of related rewards in our achievements. In The Bible, God makes it very clear. We will be rewarded here on earth for achievements. As God emphasized, certain rich people already have gained their reward here in life. When they die, there is no more rewards for them. The righteous will inherit The Kingdom of God! They will live lavishly with God in paradise for eternity!
