5th to 9th August 2013 5th August 2013 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Ps 23:4 Complaining about what is going on in our lives, will only increase our misery and all other negative feelings and attitudes. Rather, let us begin to praise God, and KNOW that He is aware of what dark valley we are walking in, and He is there strengthening, providing and protecting. Perhaps, we do not feel His presence nor do we hear Him guide us, because we are too focused on our problem? Today, let us look up at Jesus all the time, instead of at our situation – He is with us, guiding us, comforting us, and unless we focus on Him we will not feel any of His love. Let us pray for the strength of the Holy Spirit to keep trusting Him like David did. 6th August 2013 “Who has understood the mind of the Lord, or instructed Him as His counselor? Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten Him, and who taught Him the right way? Who was it that taught Him knowledge or showed Him the path of understanding?” Isaiah 40:13-14 All knowledge and all wisdom belong to God alone. He knows everything about the situation we are in. He is aware of that irritating and rude person in our life too! We may not like what is going on in our lives, but let us believe that through that negative person or situation, (in His infinite wisdom), Jesus wants us to learn a lesson. Everything He allows into our lives is because He is teaching us something. Let us make ourselves aware the whole day that no matter what we face; Jesus is speaking to us in some way. Let us know in our hearts that He will never abandon us nor will He work against us. 7th August 2013 This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. Gen 6:9 God found Noah blameless because of His faith in Him. It is not where we live or where we serve the Lord, nor to which prayer group we belong to, it is only the condition of our hearts that our pleasing or displeasing to the Lord. It is our heart that will determine how we will walk with the Lord. Noah walked in faith. Difficulties and trials come into our lives all the time, yet God says to us “Do not be afraid for I am with you” or He says to us “Do worry about your life….you are valuable to me” Let us use Noah as our role model and every time our faith shakes, let us turn to God and renew our faith in Him, let us acknowledge that He can and will take care of all that we are bothered about. 8th August 2013 Noah did everything just as God commanded him. The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. Gen 6:22–7:1 Noah did everything, just as God commanded him to. That caused God to be delighted with him. In a world where people lived only for their own pleasure, Noah lived for God’s pleasure. Noah made God smile! Whenever we put God first in our lives, we make Him smile too! Think of something you can do today, to live for God’s pleasure and make Him smile, something that will bring happiness to God, and to others, something that will delight His heart. Good sees the attitude of our hearts, and if it is our desire to please Him in all things, there is nothing He will not do for us. 9th August 2013 After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. But the dove could find no place to set its feet because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. Gen 8:6-9 In times of stress do we fly back and forth confused, worried and anxious like the raven? Or are we like the dove, who returned to Noah, when it could find a resting place? Do we turn to God every time life is difficult? If we turn to God in every difficulty, like Noah, God stretches out His hand and holds us and brings us back to Himself, and gives us His peace. Returning to Him over and over again, is the only way we can walk with the Lord and keep our faith alive in Him. By returning to Him every time we allow Him to take us to Himself, till whatever we are worried about has been sorted out.
