6. Truly you receive the Qur1in from the presence of one Wise, Omniscient 7. (Remember) when Moses said unto his household: I have perceived a fire; I will bring you tidings thence, or bring to you a borrowed flame that you may warm yourselves. (Cf.20:9-24. Both there and here there is a reference to the dawn of Revelation in the heart of Moses. Here the emphasis is on the wonderful nature of the Fire and the remarkable way in which Moses was transformed at the touch of spiritual Light. He was traveling in the Sinai desert with his family. Seeking ordinary light, he came upon a Light which took him to the highest mysteries of Allah. No doubt all his inner history had prepared him for his great destiny. It is inner history that matters, and not the place or position of a man in the eyes of his ordinary fellows.) 8. But when he reached it, he was called, saying: Blessed be Whosoever is in the fire and whosoever is round about it! And glorified be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds! 9.0 Moses! Lo! it is I, Allah, the Mighty, the Wise 10. And throw down your staff! But when he saw it moving as it were a serpent, he turned to flee headlong, and retraced not his steps; (but it was said unto him): 0 Moses! Fear not! Lo! the messengers fear not in My presence, 11. Save him who has committed an injustice and afterward has changed evil for good. For truly, I am Forgiving, Merciful 12. And put your hand into the bosom of your robe, it will come forth white but unhurt. (This will be one) among nine tokens unto Pharaoh and his people. Surely they were ever evil-living folk.
