7.16.2014@ 2:00PM My Post Employment Narrative : After I retired in February 2014 from the NYCDOE, many friends and even just acquaintances began to text me and to call me what they perceived of the goings on at my home for 30 years. The list is so long and one just has to shake their heads in disbelief. When one person says something you take it with a grain of salt, two people, a little more believable, many people; then it becomes something you cannot ignore. I am still not naming my school or former principal (though it does not take rocket science to figure it out) and I do appreciate you not blurting it out here. However what I am about to list is what has been going on in my former school according to many people. Substantiated or not it has to get one to think “What the hell is going on in that place”? In no particular order here is what I have been told: During teacher appreciation week several cruises/trips were given away (around 5). The justification of payment was outside donators that had generously sponsored these. Whether it be true or not, staff has said otherwise, that monies collected from a year long candy sale would have been the payment for these trips. On the last day of school, the recipients were told “trip cancelled” A conflict of interests statute exists which states no NYCDOE employee shall receive any present or compensation in excess of $25.00 in monetary value. Graduation costs several hundred dollars per student which included a trip for a few days by bus. What factor did the candy sale play in all of this? Why was an employee clearly a teacher at the school listed on the Graduation program as an assistant principal? Why did the principal hijack most of the event without teachers speaking? BEDS (Basic Educational Data System) State audit of licensing. Why was this done in secrecy? Has BEDS changed where teachers do not fill out sheets with their codes and sign their names to it? If it has, tell me. Why did the entire school did not receive school surveys? The paraprofessionals sure did not , I’d like to see the statistics online to see if the numbers reflect accuracy. In other words, if online it shows 95 percent of the staff submitted their surveys but in reality only 40 percent of staff members say they actually submitted it what does that indicate? Why when there was a mock quality review, were the 8th grade special education classes out on a trip? Why did the Quality Review reflect new advances credited to the new principal where proof exists it was created under the previous administration? Why does this Interim Acting principal brag to people that the Network and Superintendent “Love Him”? Why are School Based Options (SBO’s) cloaked in secrecy and the principal has his “people” going around to staff trying to push his agenda ? Why does the principal, UFT school rep and district rep go out for a secret luncheon ? Why did homerooms disappear at the beginning of the school year without the staff voting on it? This principal has not been appointed yet because of ongoing OSI investigations. This principal is listed online as having been TERMINATED from the Yonkers Public School system as well as being excessed from a Brooklyn NY High School. How could he excess a guidance counselor to hire a 4th AP with only a little over 700 students are on register? More to come, MUCH MORE …Stay tuned
