I started cycling seriously mid August after coming back from my two week Army training at FT Jackson, SC. Before that I would ride leisurely at 5 to 10 mph and distances of 5 to 25 miles tops on the heavy Wal-Mart mountain bike I used to own. I was just looking at my stats to see how many miles I put on my new bike since last Friday and the bike has 125 miles on it already and hasnt been a week yet :-). Im stoked! Then I look further and noticed that since mid August I have ridden over 500 miles. Im feeling pretty great, at first it was intimidating and still is to a point because I see so many others that are allot quicker. Slowly but surely Im creeping up on faster times by continuing to train myself to the level I want to reach. What started as an opportunity to just ride became a challenge Im inclined to accomplish with time. Im not aiming to be a racer but it has crossed my mind. One challenge at a time. My goal is to ride 100 miles and make it without a struggle. I could probably do that now in a group ride but I dont dare yet because I dont feel Im ready. According to professionals, if you can ride 70 miles on your own, you can do 100 at an event with ease. Im currently@ 60 miles and felt like I had room to push more. Well see where this journey will take me in the near future. Thank you all for your support and those whom helped push me to keep going. The pain has paid off and I feel great :-).
