7/3/2014 - 9:30 PM - UPDATE Val was moved today at 3:00 to Landmark Hospital in Athens. The transfer from NEGA to Landmark can be traumatic on his body so he was put back on the vent as well as sedated. When we arrived, he was being set up and evaluated by his nurses in their observation rooms (ICU Unit). We also met with wound care to assess all his injuries. She said that they all appear to be healing well. This is good news. He will be sedated tonight and they will continue to work to bring him off the sedation and ventilator. Tomorrow he will be assessed by several other therapists to begin working on his treatment plan. As you may know, this move was a difficult decision for us. We were very pleased with all of the staff that we met today. They treated us as if Val was their only patient. Even better news! We are very grateful for all the visitors that we have had. We are unsure of how the visitation works at Landmark, being that Val is in an ICU room. We will share this information as soon as we find out how it works. If you would like to send cards to Val, will you please send them to our home address. As always, we thank you so much for all the prayers and good wishes.
