7 Quick Observations from the Republican Convention... #1: Ted Cruz remains a rock star. Better than that, I believe he has the potential to develop into the Reagan of our generation. He has an unyielding commitment to the notion of American Exceptionalism... an idea weve lacked for a long time. #2: George P. Bushs extravagant display (e.g. a booth larger than Abbotts, larger than Cruzs, etc. and his cult-like photos of himself) demonstrated to many that the depth of his check book is only matched by the shallowness of his content. #3: The George P. Bush lanyards were a nice metaphor. The Bushes have been around our neck for far too long. #4: When conservatives work together, unacceptable notions of illegal immigration amnesty can be defeated. #5: I was struck by what a difference two years makes. Last year: Dewhurst was in power. So were Patterson and Staples. Now, the scenery is vastly changed. Well need to hold all the new guys feet to the fire - just as we should always do. #6: Whos dumb idea was it to close the food service on Saturday? 7,000 delegates trying to either eat from the concession stands or the few limited local restaurants was not good. #7: Finally, Im really looking forward to 2016! Anyone else?
