8/11/14 - Andy Big Guy Altee Update from brother Tom: Things are not going well. Andys body is making blood clots and the Docs dont have a handle on the where or why yet. Two clots have lodged in his lungs (one in each) and possibly others have lodged in his hands. The Docs are baffled. They think it might be caused by a genetic displacement for blood to coagulate and that he might have a hole in his heart - but at this point they really dont know and that baffles them because they can usually figure this stuff out a lot quicker. The treatment for the blood clots in the lungs harms the treatment for dealing with the bleeding and swelling in the brain and the treatment for the bleeding and swelling in the brain is diametrically opposed to dealing with the blood clots in the lungs. And to further complicate things Andys body continues to make and pump out these clots while his brain continues to swell several days after that should have subsided. The Docs were talking about removing another part of his skull and then going into the brain. The clots already in his lungs could be fatal at any time. Because the two problems are diametrically opposed the Docs cant aggressively attack either problem. The next four days or so are critical for Andy. My sister Cam was with me and if Ive missed anything she will fill in the blanks. What a tough day for the Big Guy. I didnt even get a thumbs up. Sigh... Pray and share. Addendum - They are going into his heart this afternoon to take a look see at his valves and to check if there are any undetected holes.
