8:30 1/27 | Good evening Central MD! Here is a sight you seldom see! Think we have it bad up here? Just take a look at the southeast! The National Weather Service has issued a WIND CHILL ADVISORY for our area, in effect from 1 AM to 10 AM Tuesday morning. Strong winds and very cold air will combine to make for some brutal wind chills- 5-10 degrees below zero in our area. While we only get to deal with bitter cold, this map shows far worse: Winter Storm Warnings stretch from coastal Texas through New Orleans and the Florida panhandle, on up to much of Georgia, the Carolinas and SE Virginia. Even Ocean City and Salisbury could get accumulating snow! Here west of the Bay, we are just doing to stay on the dry side, under brutally cold wind chills. TONIGHT: Frigid, with lows in the single digits. Cloud cover will prevent us from going too far below 10 below in most places. Winds NW at 10-15 mph. TUESDAY: Highs only getting to 20 degrees, under cloudy skies. Winds NNW calming down to 5-10 mph should keep the wind chills above zero in the afternoon, but take caution on your morning commute, and bundle up! TUESDAY NIGHT: Cloud cover will yet again keep it from cooling down too much, with lows in the teens. Calm winds. LOOKING AHEAD: Temps will stay below freezing for the remainder of the week, with the big freeze ending around Friday. We are looking at the possibility for precipitation on Friday and Saturday, so well keep you posted! Have a great evening! (Forecaster Emily)
