#9 #Post 8 v1.1 #DANCE #14years and still continuing #Part_1 (my first step in the world of dance) By #DEBAPRIYA Hiieee…….. well… before I start with my dancing experience and discussion about various dance forms..….. let me give a brief introduction of myself…….. I’m Debapriya……. Friends call me Debo… elders call me Tip (yes that’s my nick name)….. so I’m a B.Sc. student of 2nd year… during my childhood I suffered from Hypothyroidism…… doctor said that I need to reduce weight… my mom then decided to make me dance…That time everyone doubted that I won’t be able to dance…. they used to laugh at my back… but both my parents supported me a lot….. After running from pillar to post (because half of the teachers rejected me seeing my figure…….. yes its true… its filmy…but its true) at last they found a man who teaches a few student in the next neighborhood…. The form he used to teach was Indian classical…. But…. A different one… a new one… I’ll be talking about it in due course of time…. Rather in the next chapter…. So at the age of 6…. I took the first step in dance….. don’t remember the exact date….. but one thing I remember is that it was a summer…… sweat trickled down my hair , face and body….. but Sir made me practice…… till all the basic steps were perfect…. We have a rule that once we start dancing… we are not supposed to drink water before dancing for 2 hours continuously…… I still remember that pain I had after the practice is over….. :( but you know what now when I look back…… I realize that really learned a lot from Sir…. Sir didn’t teach me to dance…. Sir made me love dance….. as time went by…. My hypothyroidism got cured….. I don’t think I have it now…. And I began to explore dance…. :) the reason I’m telling that I began exploring is that….. I just didn’t learn a few ‘bole’ or few ‘mudras’ I learned the origin of dance….. I will be talking about it later…. Now at the age of 10…. I won my first prize….. a dancing competition… people of various academies performed… in the junior section only two girls went to that competition from my academy… me and another girl who now reads in my college… no she is not a friend but I do know her well…. But it was special to me…. My first win… :D I won a gold medal… 1st prize….. after that I have won many prizes…. But that one is still fresh in my memory…. :) we used to have a lot of fun in our workshops…. And trust me in our academy….. the senior-junior relationship is very beautifull…. We used to crack jokes and practice at the same time…. :) I miss them a lot now…. :( its been 5 years since we had the last workshop…. :( I just wanna thank my parents and my Sir for believing in me at that time when nobody believed in me… at one point I lost faith in myself…. But my sir didn’t…. its because of him…. That I fell in love with dance… :) To be continued….. #Feel free to comment, like and share
