A CYCLONE WARNING CLASS II IS IN FORCE IN MAURITIUS. A CYCLONE WARNING CLASS II IS IN FORCE IN MAURITIUS. Seventh cyclone bulletin for Mauritius issued at 0410 hours on Tuesday 13 January 2015. Latest satellite imagery show that intense tropical cyclone BANSI has intensified further into a very intense tropical cyclone during the night. At 0400 hours very intense tropical cyclone BANSI was centred in latitude 17.6 degrees south and longitude 57.3 degrees east, that is at about 275 kilometres almost to the north of Mauritius. Bansi maintains its east-south-easterly track at a speed of 7 km/h. On this trajectory, the centre of BANSI continues to approach Mauritius and remains a potential threat. Risk of experiencing cyclonic winds still exists. Our region remains under the influence of active cloud bands associated with BANSI. A CYCLONE WARNING CLASS II REMAINS IN FORCE IN MAURITIUS. The public is advised to take all necessary precautions. The weather will remain cloudy to overcast over the whole island with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. The showers will be moderate to heavy at times in places thereby causing water accumulation and flooding of river banks and other water courses. The public is advised to stay away from these places. There will be fog patches in certain places that will reduce visibility. Road users are advised to be extremely cautious. Wind will blow from the eastern sector at a speed of 40 to 50 km/h with gusts reaching 90 to 100 km/h in places. Sea will remain very rough with swells of the order of 5.0 metres, breaking along the northern and western coasts. The public is strongly advised not to venture at sea.
