A Celebration of Maria Maria Catherina Jongeling, 71, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2013. The middle child of 7 children, Maria was born on June 2, 1942, in the Netherlands during WWII. As a young girl, she attended a church dance and met Bram, the man who would become her husband. Together they immigrated to Los Angeles, where they raised a family of four children. After many years as a loving full-time mother, the hardworking Maria had three successful careers. First as a real estate agent in San Gabriel, then as a youth minister at San Gabriel Mission, Saint Therese Church and San Miguel Mission. After receiving her Masters degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, as a family therapist in Paso Robles where she founded the Family Renewal Center. Throughout her life Maria compassionately touched people’s lives. She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne and Diana; her sons Ron and Andre; her eight grandchildren: Nic, Vanessa, Christian, Andrea, Noah, Anelisa, Gabe, and Angie; her one great-grandchild, Lucie; and her 4 brothers and 2 sisters. A Viewing will be held on July 30th from 5 to 8 pm at the Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home. Services will be held at the family home the following day at 10am.
