A Challenge For You The other day I was going through some old - TopicsExpress

A Challenge For You The other day I was going through some old material I had from my University days. I began to reminisce about my time at York. To be honest, I didn’t enjoy those days very much. There were many days I wanted to give up and drop out. What kept me going was spending time in God’s Word. Each day I would read a passage of scripture and write down on a cue card a verse or two that spoke to me. I would place that cue card in one of my textbooks and read it whenever I felt anxious or frustrated. By the end of each day, I would have the scripture memorized. I would then stick that card on my dresser mirror. My mirror became so full that I could no longer see my reflection. All I saw was the Word of God and the promises He made me. A few years ago, I purchased a bulletin board to put those cards on. It now hangs on the back of my bedroom door. Each time I leave my room, I am reminded of God’s promises and the words He has spoken to me. As I transferred the cards from my mirror to the bulletin board, I noticed that there were one or two scriptures I had written at least twice. One of them was Romans 12:1-2 “12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” No matter what you face this season in school or at work or home, may I challenge you to do two things: 1. “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, and do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” 2. Each day or each week, write a verse and make it your goal to memorize it. Begin with Romans 12:1-2. Before long all you will see is His Word and the promises he has made to you.
