A Cry Of Desperation Psa 142:1 I cry out to the LORD with my voice; with my voice to the LORD I make my supplication. Have you ever cried out to God in desperation, be it for something as simple as fearing something as serious as waiting for the results of a biopsy, or as simple as a driver’s license test? My friend, there are times you will feel you have no option left, but to "cry out" to God. I have dropped in today to point out that there is a big difference between your ordinary prayers, and when you "cry out" to your Heavenly Father. When you pray, you probably mention many different things to God, laying the burdens of your heart, at His feet. However, when you "cry out," something different happens. Often, one is so overcome by anxiety, be it sorrow, apprehension, fear, or even disquieted hope, that they can’t help spontaneously throwing themselves upon God’s mercy for their immediate need. As you read through God’s Word, you will find records of many different instances of "crying out." You will find cries of desperation, as "when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!"(Mat 14:29,30) Imagine a fisherman, who couldn’t swim! It’s humorous when one thinks about it. You may cry out, feeling helpless in you situation, saying, "I have no power against this great multitude that is coming against [me]; nor do [I] know what to do, but [my] eyes are upon You."(2 Chr 20:12) In "faith," you may "cry out" saying, your eyes "are on the righteous, and [your] ears are open to their cry."(Psa 34:15) My friend, I want you understand that your Heavenly Father pays attention every time that you "cry out" to Him. The most dynamic truth you can learn about your cries, is God hears every single one. Remember how, the Lord heard Moses’ cry of anguish from the desert, as he pleaded, "What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me?"(Ex 17:4) God responded immediately by saying, "Go on before the people, and take with you some of the elders of Israel. Also take in your hand your rod with which you struck the river, and go. Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink."(Exo 17:5,6) I want you to understand that God will always respond to your cries, with His perfect timing. He wants you to call out to Him, with the burdens of your heart. If you have cried out to God in "faith," rest assured that He was listening. There may be times that you can’t think of what to say, regarding your situation, nonetheless, the Holy Spirit "helps in [your] weaknesses. For [you] do not know what [you] should pray for as [you] should, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for [you] with groanings which cannot be uttered."(Rom 8:26) Now, don’t misinterpret that verse, and think that it is you does the "groanings which cannot be uttered." No my friend, it is the Holy Spirit, not you! Do you have a desperate situation? Then "cry out" to God, saying "Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by."(Psalm 57:1) "Cry out"; it works!
