A DAY WITH 40 GENERALS Two weeks ago, with the team from the CRS and AFP CMO School, I had the opportunity to speak and give lecture about stakeholder engagement and STRATCOM to the future and Philippine National Police’s think tanks- forty generals of the PNP at Camp Crame Training Center. I was truly delighted by this humbling experience to have an open discussion with the PNP generals. During the lecture, I was amazed by the participation of these generals to the discussion, they were very open to the new ideas we presented. Of course, almost every aspect of the topic did not go unchallenged. There was a vigorous and passionate exchange of ideas and we digested the wisdom and experience that they bring to the forum. Personally, the moment was fulfilling and was delighted to see that they find time to listen to an army major despite the huge generational gap among us. The relationship landscape between superior and subordinates has changed already. In the past young officers had the dilemma in voicing out their comments and often their suggestions have no weight and bearing. Seniors dominated the discussions thus fresh ideas and innovations were often concealed. And the result was obvious. But not now, not today. Leaders of our organization are now more liberal and cognizant to new ways. The young bloods are experiencing this degree of empowerment that are seen in the blueprint of highly competitive and performing organizations in the world. And of course, this teacher soldier” experience made me realized the value of teachers in the country, the modern-day heroes, who have remained honest and true to their calling, who will not hesitate to walk the extra mile and transcend their limitations just to give the best service possible to our country and people. Our salute to them.
