A Dialogue with Human Rights on their Day( December,10) ( From my poetry book Voice of Heart) ********************************************** Me: **** Oh dear! So you are human rights, For long I was desperate to see your face; Millions of books have glorified your name, Millions of people have thrived on your grace. Human Rights: ***************** Yes it is ‘I’. But why this sarcasm?: Why this fun ?, Have you still not perceived my worth and trace;? My imprints can be observed in the entire world, The whole of humanity now falls within my embrace. Me: **** But you are a tool in the hands of might and wealth, For you, the poor and oppressed have lost their place; Those for whom you make your noise and clamour, Are standing with begging bowls in the worldly race. Human Rights: **************** I am a notion. My mission is to give a noble preach, With me, the cowardly class are unable to keep a pace; To enjoy my fruits , the oppressed will have to rise, To raze to the ground, every corrupt edifice and palace. The history is replete with my degeneration and abuse, For the poor, the mighty have always been a menace; But those who have a strong will often change the course, With the streams of their blood, every evil , they efface. ************************************************** Dr. Mustafa Kamal Sherwani,LL.D.
