A Foggy Morning In Fall **Prints available here deviantart/print/36702475/ Thanks everyone for the support! -------------------------------- Fall is on the cusp here in Colorado and as a photographer, its my busiest time of the year. It seems everyone is excited and is posting their fall images from years past. I love this time of the year...its so gorgeous here. In this image, fog lifts off a lake as the sunlight reflects against the trees just after sunrise. To get the image, I used a Sigma 170-500mm lens on my Sony A550 backed up by a Puffin Pad to get the shot. Why such a long lens? Well, let me explain....One of the things I love to do is called compression landscapes. Its taking a very long lens which is usually reserved for wildlife photography and getting in close to study the landscape which the naked eye otherwise wouldnt see. I love photographing this way and panning around seeing what I can find and working out a composition which I otherwise would miss. I am really looking forward to Autumn this year however it will be sort of bitter sweet. For the last several years I have held meetups each and every Autumn in Rocky Mountain National Park. Weve had some great times, met a whole lot of great people along the way if I do it this year, which will be very last minute if I do, it will be my last. Next year I plan on holding actual workshops and teaching people the art of photography. In the planning stages now, I am very excited by its prospects but also I will sadly miss doing things very informal. Its truly a huge undertaking and involves a lot of planning and forethought but is a huge step forward for me as working photographer. As it stand snow, I will be holding 2 weekend workshops concentrating on general nature photography and travelscape photography during autumn in Colorado next year.
