A Horse You Can Ride At a riding stable called “Rent an Equine,” a woman was standing at the front of the line. She was all flustered and fit to be tied as she argued about what kind of horse she would ride. She said, “Young man, I want to make it clear - I am not as naive as I appear. So don’t try to trick me and put me on top of one of those horses that won’t want to stop. “Nor do I want a horse that bucks or rears, or bares his teeth or pins his ears. I won’t tolerate one that kicks or bites and I don’t want one that starts any fights. “I do not wish to have to do battle the minute I climb up into the saddle. And the horse I ride must be surefooted as heck, for no doubt I’ll sue you if I break my neck.” She objected to every horse he brought out. One was too tall, another was too stout; one looked too wild, some looked too mean; others were too old or else they were green. The wrangler glared at the irate customer and wondered how much longer he could put up with her. Then he cracked a grin about half a mile wide, and said, Maam, wait right here. I have a horse you can ride. When he returned he told her, “I think you’re in luck. I found you one that won’t kick, bite or buck. In fact, this one here doesn’t even eat hay.” Then he handed her a stick horse and walked away.
