A Knock on the Door By Charlie Gamble II John 9-11 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. Sometimes we notice them when they enter the neighborhood. Sometimes we don’t know they are around until we hear a knock on the door. What are we to do when we come face-to-face with a known false teacher? It is obvious that we are not to welcome them as if we are in agreement. We cannot ignore their errors and receive them as brethren. We have a directive that does apply. With love for the lost soul, we must contend for the faith (Jude 3). We should attempt to set up a study with them. Invite them to services of the church. Please remember that because they knocked on our door does not negate our responsibility to preach the gospel to every creature. - Charlie Gamble preaches for the Brunswick Church of Christ in Southport, NC.
