A Marvelous Mystery O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good—Psalm 107:1a And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose—Romans 8:29-29 Not surprisingly, this scripture is baffling to many for any number of reasons. But, first of all we must believe that God is good as the Bible tells us NUMEROUS times. Then we must admit that we never have a bad day even though our daily experience is seasoned with many bad things that definitely happen—often because of our own bad decisions. And it is easy for a guilt complex to steal our joy. But are we missing something? Indeed we miss much by the fact that we’re only human. We do not have all knowledge about anything and we assuredly never will. We must live by faith, not by what we see with the natural eye. This is our Sovereign Lord’s first rule of creation. That being said, it is a marvelous, indeed, that we walk through this world with a free-volition making decisions that seem to defy the plan of God. It is marvelous because it assures us that, regardless, God will finally put all the pieces together in a way that is good, and glorifies Him for-ever. To have a part in that process is marvelous indeed. The key is in the phrase to them that love God, for it is impossible to love Him until we first let Him love us—meaning: we receive His love at the Cross. Therefore, the object of this scripture is the believer only. When, we consider our past from God’s perspective we relax and rejoice knowing that He is going turn our worst decisions into something good. Amazing! This is not only a mystery it is a MARVELOUS MYSTERY! And it is absolute truth!
