A Moment To Remember Dr. Jack Ramsay I recall the nights - TopicsExpress

A Moment To Remember Dr. Jack Ramsay I recall the nights sitting in front of my not-quite-yet-HD-TV watching pre-Championship Miami Heat basketball games. Yes, believe it or not there were the not-so-glamorous years for the Miami Heat. You know, pre-Shaquille Oneal, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron James. Back in these days a.k.a. the 90s, I watched and rooted for guys like, Alonzo Morning, Glen Rice, Tim Hardaway, John Salley, Harold Minor, Steve Smith, Bimbo Coles and Rony Seikaly, to name a few. While I was a fan of those players, the Detroit Pistons had a special place in my sports fan heart. And of course, like every other kid growing up in that era, Michael Jordan. The Heat werent your dominate eastern conference team by any means. But as a local South Florida kid something kept drawing me to their games. That something was the voice of the one and only Dr. Jack Ramsay. I instantly became a fan. Nothing could beat hearing Dr. Jack call the games along side Eric Reid on a random Tuesday night in February. I was like a kid on Halloween with an orange bucket filled with candy, but still in search for more. And for that reason, as a young fan of the NBA, I kept tuning my television set into what was then called Sunshine Network. Heck, it sure did beat doing homework. In fact, I would say that listening to guys like Dr. Jack do play-by-play and color commentary as a kid is one of the things that inspired me to get into Sports Broadcasting. The passion behind his voice as he called the game that he loved was mesmerizing. And for that I say, Thank You. Sound OFF!
