A Night of Prophecy and Power Sermon - Bishop Charles Agyinasare FRUITFULNESS - PART II OF III -ONE ESSENTIAL AREA WHERE WE MUST BE FRUITFUL: God has empowered us to be fruitful. We are therefore responsible for our fruitfulness. We have been ordained to be fruitful and we can only step into that inheritance if we make the decision and effort to be and become fruitful. One essential area where we must be fruitful above all other things is in our works of repentance. We must bear fruit worthy of repentance. Like John the Baptist said in Matthew 3:8, “Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance”, or as the Bible in Basic English translates it, “Let your change of heart be seen in your works.” So if we prosper in business, education, sports and entertainment, and do not bear fruit worthy of repentance, we are lacking. § Those of us in the clergy should show the dignity of the office by being doers of what we teach. People should be followers of us as we follow Christ. (See 1 Corinthians 11.1) We should also teach our congregation religious tolerance. The fact that someone does not believe what I believe does not make him my enemy. § Employers or bosses should pay their employees on time and not withhold or delay their salaries. James 5:4 reads, “Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.” Bosses must pay employees what they deserve, not what they think. They should stop threatening their staff remembering that God hears the cry of the poor. § Employees or workers should not take advantage of employers. They should be faithful and not men pleasers. It is also wrong to use office time and equipment for personal business. Colossians 3:22-25; NKJV 22 “Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.” We should change from saying, “As for government work, we don’t carry it on our heads, but we drag it on the ground.” § Shop assistants should not bring their own goods to sell in the shop, while making it look like nothing is being bought of the boss’s goods. Let us remain faithful. Traders should not adopt any use of ungodly tactics in their work. It is imperative that we avoid “quick money”, or cheating to make money. Jeremiah 17:11 reads, “As a partridge that broods but does not hatch, So is he who gets riches, but not by right; It will leave him in the midst of his days, And at his end he will be a fool.” § Mechanics should not remove car parts and resell, while asking clients to rebuy parts, whereas their cars really did not have any problem. § Petrol station assistants should not pump foam into tanks to inflate the fuel level in the car, just so they can sell more fuel. § Doctors should not refer people from government hospitals to their clinics just for extra money. Neither should medical workers give false diagnoses in order to get them to pay for more medication. Nurses should be very accommodating to patients and treat them as if they are relatives, not nuisances. § No politician should take the money supposed to be used for development of deprived areas for their pocket and personal use. Our politicians should not give us politics of insults but of serious issues. As we approach elections, they should not make it look like a “do-or-die” affair. Vying for power should not make anybody run out of this nation. Electoral officers must give us clean results for the peace and stability of the nation. § Judges and police must serve righteous judgement. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 5:8, “If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent perversion of justice and righteousness in a province, do not marvel at the matter; for high official watches over high official, and higher officials are over them.” There is a Higher Judge who watches over us all! § Police and soldiers should not take bribes to pervert justice. Court registrars will not extort money to bend the rules against the poor; files will not go missing from the registers of the courts, lands registry etc. Make no mistake, for God Himself is watching, and the judge of all the earth shall do right. § Our journalists should only run when they have a story and not partake in “arm- chair journalism’. We should appreciate what we have as a nation and jealously guard against anyone hijacking it for his or her own personal agenda. All our roles are of extreme importance, from the clergyman to an ordinary citizen. We must approach each role with dignity and reverence, for we serve the Lord Christ.
