A SHORT HISTORY OF ST PETERS ANGLICAN CHURCH The church was born by a resolution taken on Sunday 26th June 1960, by Igbo Anglican resident at Ajegunle and Olodi Apapa axis of Lagos. The resolution to establish the church was taken under a mango tree at a place where First Bank of Nigeria Plc formerly situated, adjacent to Total Filling Station at malu road now Mobil Road, Ajegunle Apapa Lagos. The church at its inception was known and called St Pauls church. The name was later change formalized by an official declaration made on Sunday 31st July 1960. Though born on 26th June 1960, the church actually commenced service on the 3rd July 1960 with 104 members at Ekang school Hall (now known as Ajeromi central school) near New Road Bus Stop, Olodi Apapa. It was from there it moved to its presence location at no 2 salubi street Olodi Apapa Lagos. That was the genesis of the church which was baptized two years later. The dedication of the temporary church building was done on 29th June 1962 which coincidently is observed as St Peters day in Anglican Church communion calendar. It was really Gods grand design that Rev S.O Elenwa(later bishop Elenwa) who was at the head of BTM Parish council that recommended that the building of the church at ajegunle/Olodi should not be then, was miraculously delegated and mandated by the higher authority to dedicate the St peters church without conditionalitys, precisely on the 29th June 1962. Consequently by a resolution signed on the 29th June 1962, the church effected a change of name from St Paul church to St peters church Olodi Apapa and was so dedicated by Rev S.O Elenwa(later bishop) on behalf of Rev Canon T. L Oredugba (later Archdeacon). The change of name was published in the national newspaper on 10th December 1962.
