A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, BUT THE FIGHT IS FAR FROM WON! Florida lawmakers have agreed to hold hearings this fall to evaluate the Stand Your Ground law. This is a step in the right direction, but we have to keep the pressure on to ensure this step is not just "symbolic" or a ritualistic "dog and pony show" so that it could be said that "a hearing took place." Like the Trayvon Martin verdict, justice is fleeting in Florida. Florida is the mother of stand your ground and ground zero for the repeal of the law nationwide. KEEP THE PRESSURE ON FLORIDA CORPORATIONS, INDUSTRIES AND INTERESTS! Demand that they publicly denounce Stand Your Ground and use their money, power and influence to pressure Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford to repeal the unjust law.
