Nominated for 12 Academy Awards, the film won four - Best Actress Vivien Leigh, Best Supporting Actor Karl Malden, Best Supporting Actress Kim Hunter and Best Art Direction. Although Marlon Brando was nominated for Best Actor and his performance is considered to be the most influential acting in the history of film, he lost to Humphrey Bogart for The African Queen. The film also lost its nomination of Best Picture to An American in Paris and Elia Kazan lost to George Stevens for A Place in the Sun. A monumental film thats impact cannot be minimized.
