A Sunday Meditation for a Month of Mondays: Tis the season for celebrations of new love, reaffirmations of forged love, and for discovering what it means to truly love yourself. This month alone has taught me the value of loving others more than myself, and even more importantly what it means to love God above all others. My rewards have been beyond my imagination. Yet, my pangs too have been beyond my imagination in the months leading up to this one. Still, the blessings that come with self-sacrificing love far surpass any that come with sighing and groaning, greed, envy, covetousness, or blind ambition. So next month, I will meditate deeply on how I can continue to show Christ-like love. As I do, and as Nisan 14 quickly approaches, I will use the words at Matthew 24:14 to motivate me to stay zealous in my ministry. Having already reaped the benefits of the Messiahs words at Matthew 6:33(and knowing I can continue to)compels me to appreciate the request made at Luke 22:19 and 20. When we find love, and when we have love we celebrate it. So fittingly when we lose love, we mourn the loss of it. On April 14, 2014 we will both mourn and celebrate. We will for a brief time feel the weight of the loss of a Fathers only-begotten Son. We will meditate more intensely on how that Fathers tremendous loss was undoubtedly also the most tremendous act of self-sacrificing love for us. When the evening has drawn to a close, we will celebrate every opportunity that still awaits us to demonstrate our humble gratitude and undying love for the One who first loved us. Love is...
