A West Nipissing man is out some money after falling victim to a cheque scam. The victim was sent two certified cheques totaling $5,000 for an item he was selling on KIJIJ. However when the victim told the buyer he overpaid, the seller was asked to send the leftover amount back using Western Union. He did that but shortly afterward he got a call from the bank telling him the cheques were worthless and that he had to repay the outstanding amount.
