A clumsy tribute on his 40th day, after reflecting with resident artists Myra Beltran Carlo Gabuco: Even as a young man, Nod Abyabulas, age 15 or 16, always seemed like a guide, wise beyond his years. He kept us, his supposed mentors, grounded, seemed to be watching everything from a distance, providing just the levity needed during difficult moments, moderating our artistic excesses, making the mystical less creepy and even rational. He was there when we set a strayed baby pawikan free, when the mermaids repeatedly came to haunt us, when our van slipped off the road without reason, when a double rainbow appeared in the late afternoon, when i couldnt bear the moment and wept in public (and how he laughed... he kept the video). 40 days after leaving this earth, his presence and hand are still strongly felt... don, anghel ka nga ba?
