A couple of days ago I came across a movie on youtube referring to the lost wilderness. At one time, this idea was inconceiveable, who would think this would ever happen. My awareness into todays world, I see this possibility now a reality. With our growing population estimated to reach 9 billion by 2045 (at our current trends towards the impact of climate change I dont think this will happen because many population will be devastated due to climate change) this number can only encroach into the natural environment and as always having a devastating impact on eco- systems and habitats for many creatures who depend on these wildlands to live and flourish as with the plants and trees that provides life with many valuable resources. For most this reality is blinded by materialism and the lost of our connection to the natural world. Once it is gone, we will have lost what life really consists of and will soon lose what ties life all together. The signs are clear and have been clear for some who have paid attention to our recklessness towards the environment and to all life we share on this planet. We will not realize this until it is on our laps, until it is too late and realizing that man cannot survive without the diverse life we now share and have shared in our world. The natural world, our natural environment will be banned from us to experience, but allowed for big corporations to exploit. The only nature will be able to experince are small park like settings. Out side of our cities will be wastelands brought by industry. Is the the future we want to leave for our children and their childrens children? The brave new world is at our door step. Are we going to allow this to happen or are we willing to create a new world that is sustainable for all life on this planet?
