A couple of months prior to Cyclone Tracy 1974, I was given a bottle of 1934 Para Liquor Port port, by some friends that were leaving Darwin. Sadly I have forgotten their names, but he was a Chef with the Navy and he was going back to NSW to finish off his stint and become a civilian again. They were going to return to Darwin after his de-mob, and the deal was that on their return we would celebrate with the Port. I still have that bottle of Port, it survived Tracy, pre Tracy, it sat on top of my kitchen cupboards, post Tracy it was found in the bath tub, in the bathroom, minus its label and damaged seal. It has been kept all these years and i am still hoping that one day I can return it to its rightful owner. Sadly, it is not drinkable as the seal was damaged in the Cyclone, but it has sentimental ties. They came originally from Mudgee in NSW if my memory is correct., and were members of the Darwin Go Kart Club, which was our connection to them. Maybe they will read this and make contact so I can give you your bottle of port back.
