A couple of years ago, I started an electronic equivalent of the wonderful German tradition of an Adventskalender (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advent_calendar), i.e. a countdown to Christmas; a series of 24 little emails that range from pretty darn funny to rather deep – little distractions from the routine of the day. Today is the first Advent’s Sunday, kind of the ‘official’ beginning of the Christmas Season (well, at least from what I remember from my childhood in Germany) – and the last day of a long Thanksgiving weekend here in the US that we spent with lots of good food, a fabulous hike in the mountains (Vegas is actually surrounded by pretty tall mountains – almost 4000m high (well, 3,600 or 11.916’)) and decorating the house in the full spirit of Christmas - including Blue&White lighting in the spirit of Bavaria around the chicken-house … Other people were a bit more creative with their holiday deko – have a look: youtube/embed/yEH4Yum4nN4 Thus - Life is good; looking forward to 24 fabulous days of a very special season ….
