A family going through trials… Needing help with travel expenses and medical treatment. Two family member in need of Major Medical treatment. Both require long distant travel. giveforward Search "A family going through trials" My name is Carey Box, and I met the love of my life several years ago. We have been married for 5 years now, blending into a family unit with my daughter, Pearl who is 15. We decided to have children together and are proud of the close relationship Pearl has with our daughter, Lily, 2 and our son, Jim Bob (Jr.) who is nearly 1 year old. About a month ago we were astonished to find out we are expecting another baby in the spring of 2014! Soon our family will be 6! I wish I could tell you that everything is running smoothly. Upon her therapist’s strongly worded advice, Pearl and I made the joint decision to enroll her in Diamond Ranch Academy in Utah-15 hour drive time one way. Diamond Ranch Academy is a full time residential treatment center for at risk teenagers. Pearl has been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Major Depressive Order, and Mood Disorder by the psychiatrists there at Diamond Ranch Academy in Hurricane, Utah. We are trying to raise money to pay for medical expense as well as traveling expenses for our family. Traveling once a month is not nearly enough to see my daughter, visit with her, check on her progress, attend family counseling, and take care of financial paperwork yet the expenses add up. A few months after enrolling Pearl in Diamond Ranch Academy, my husband discovered an irregular lump and has been advised to seek medical attention at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas to seek further evaluation and diagnosis. One way is 10 hours of driving. Between driving one direction for 15 hours to visit with my daughter and attend classes that support Pearl returning home and traveling to Houston in the opposite direction to meet with the doctors our finances are extremely strapped. The medical bills for my husband are starting to mount up while my daughters have already mounted up. It is difficult because we are not in a position where we can borrow money and nobody enjoys asking for help. My husband is a good husband, a good provider and making sure his health is protected is a big priority. Saving my husband’s life is important, making sure he gets the care he needs to pursue an accurate diagnosis and the treatment he may need. When a doctor tells you that he thinks your husband has cancer, everything flashes ahead of you and all I can think about is making sure he is healthy. Not just for me but for our three children and one on the way. Ensuring that Pearl makes it through her treatment program and has all the support and love she deserves is also a priority for Jim Bob and I. Anything you can do will help our family meet these needs would be greatly appreciated.
