A few people had a few legitimate questions about Bailey, This is in response to those questions, as best I can answer them: Yes, Bailey was adopted at the big event Saturday. The request for donations was from me - to help Bailey and his adopters and help me recover what I paid. The adopters did not have any money to take Bailey to a vet and called me to ask if I could help Bailey. They said Bailey was attacked by something but they werent at home when it happened.....were picking their children up from school. They said when they left the house Bailey was in the garage and he had left a fan on and a window open that had a screen. When they got back home the screen was ripped open and Bailey was outside the garage and injured. He noticed Bailey limping and checked her and said her leg was an open wound, that he treated it the best he could and gave her pain medication. He said they felt she needed further medical treatment but they had no money, could I help? I told him yes, and thanked him for calling me instead of not getting her the help she needed. I also told him I was worried about her getting hurt by wildlife as an outdoor dog, that I dont believe in dogs not living in the home. I had told them that when they took Bailey home. I am not the one to set adoption rules though, and not everyone agrees about dogs living in and out of the home. I told them to meet me and I transferred her from their vehicle to mine and took her straight to the hospital. I paid the bill myself and asked for help with donations because I just spent a lot of money at vets on my dog and Sarah, (foster from PCAS). The adopters are very low income, one is disabled. I asked the adopters to please surrender Bailey to me so I could find a rescue or foster or adopter who could provide further necessary medical treatment for her injuries and for her heartworm. I explained that she needs to be inside a home, that I was worried about this happening again, and when she is treated for heartworm she absolutely has to stay indoors during treatment. The owners have not agreed to surrender her yet. They are discussing it. He said they absolutely cannot keep her inside the home because they are renting. I did not ask what steps have been taken to prevent this from happening again because there is no option for Bailey to remain outdoors in my opinion because she needs to be indoors during recovery and during heartworm treatment. The vet said they were canine bites, either another dog or a coyote. She said whatever attacked Bailey grabbed her leg and was shaking it because there were tears and multiple puncture wounds. Your questions, I feel, were legitimate questions to ask. This is all I can tell you so far, other than Bailey is recovering now and I will be posting a few more pictures later, and she is doing better today. Thank you to everyone who has been so concerned about her. To everyone who believes in prayer, please continue to keep her in your prayers.
