A few people have asked me about these......so heres a bit of a step by step....DIY Fischer Bow Collectors, whilst Im doing a few for the Florin St fleet and some more for me I thought Id take a few pics..... All materials are available from Eileens Emporium....there are other suppliers but thats where I get my bits from.... Step 1 is to for the basic triangular shape, I have a jig with 2 pieces of 1/8 brass rod in, you can then fold the .5mm nickel silver round it to form the curved ends of the triangle. Step 2 is to trim the ends and make it flat and then solder the cross piece in, I have a template drawn that gives me the correct spacing, the piece of paper theyre shown on is a bit of a tidier copy! Step 3 is to solder a section of .5mm i/d brass tubing to a section of M2 brass rod, I normally pre tin these then hold the threaded rod at 45 deg to the flat tube, that will generally get the tube central on the rod. Trim ends down with a file to approx same size as the rod, again, practice and templates..... Step 4. Pass a length of .5mm nickel silver through the pivot point and trim ends to length. Step 5. Solder 2 end bits to cross bar then trim ends of triangular section to length and solder to legs. Trim M2 rod to length..... Balance weight and springing if required later...... Yeah of course you can just fit a PC or MH one and theres nothing wrong with that at all, my fleet get a fair bit of stick and these have proved to be pretty robust, they can also be made to fit anything you want once youve got the nack....plus they cost about 25p each in materials! Anyway a few pics that might make it more easy to understand.....
