What we need to take home from this latest exposè is the statement by the Warwick professor that as a result of this elimination policy, we have radicalised our youth even more, and have created a real insurgency at home. As if that is not enough, we have come up with draconian laws that will now make it even more easier for our security forces to create a police state. The proposed security bill is certainly borne out of panic and will adversely impact on our democratic ideals as a nation. We must think hard before adopting this law. Counter terrorism war is not just about having an appropriate piece of legislation. There is much more in our institutional weaknesses that can be addressed, and which will have significant impact in reducing insecurity in the country.
