A few years ago one of my students fought an arsonist stoping him from burning down a Chicago Middle Eastern Restuarant and killing all the patrons and staff. Our school and the fight made the TV News and the Papers. Here is the news footage video of the fight. It is very rare for a fight video to show actual authentic exotic styles of Kung Fu being applied. As an instructor of Kung Fu I appreciate that the fight wasnt a perfect, because real street fights tend to be messy. There were some very serous X factors in the fight that my student flowed through with reasonable grace and terminator like effectiveness and this makes for a great case study for students who want to observe how being adaptable and ready to change makes for an effective fighter. There was gasoline on the ground, a thick winter coat, and an enemy high or drunk who was feeling no pain. These factors led to an interesting fight that lasted a lot longer than usual. Please observe how my student used surprise to effectively end the first and biggest threat of fire. Also observe the excellent jump shuffle dodging a thrown chair and then bouncing from that to smash the terrorists face into the table and dropping a huge elbow into his temple eliminating the enemy from combat and giving him a trip to the hospital before jail. Elements of Splashing Hands Kung Fu, Little Nine Heaven, Hsing-I, and Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan were all used to some degree in this encounter. I am very proud of my student for protecting the people there and effectively stopping the arsonist from burning down the place to the ground. He was ready to be that super hero, because he trained hard. He still trains very hard to this day. youtu.be/cTBVSsMKm8k
