A follower shares: Hi! I am 32 weeks pregnant and just found out today that my doctor does not do VBACs. He acted like I was a terrible person just for asking him if hed let me try a VBAC. Im devastated. Im a healthy 27 year old who has had a totally uncomplicated pregnancy thus far. My first pregnancy 5 years ago was totally uncomplicated as well. I was naive and let my dr. force me into a cesarean that I did not need. He induced me at 37 weeks, his reason being (Your baby is large. We need to get him out of there --- My baby was 7 1/2 lbs.) I labored for 13 hours. Dilated to 5 1/2 cm. and was told that I needed a cesarean because my baby was taking too long to arrive. Also, I was told that there was a chance of infection since my water had been broken for 6 hours and that if I didnt agree to a c-section Id be harming my baby. So, being young and naive at the time, I agreed to a cesarean- Not knowing that my baby was safe from infection for 24 hours. It was a traumatic experience and I dont want to go through it again!! Im considering switching dr.s. My problem is: Im not sure who to switch to. I hear there are a couple of doctors in the same practice as my current doctor who are pro vbac, but Im not sure. Also, I have Medicaid. So Ive been going to our local Medicaid clinic. They dont accept vbac patients. Ill have to switch to The Womans Clinic (the same exact doctors work here that work at the Medicaid clinic) and pay out of pocket - Which I can do if I have to. But, Im scared they wont let me switch to a different doctor within the same practice. Its a conflict of interest I think. Im not sure. Im fairly certain that the only VBAC friendly doctors in this area work here. Also, Im not positive theyll even let me come there and pay out of pocket even if I can switch doctors, because I do have Medicaid. My situation feels hopeless. I feel like Im being forced into a repeat cesarean that I DO NOT WANT! I feel like Im being bullied and I have no clue what to do. #Support
