A frequent question we are asked on Asperger Syndrome Awareness is this: - Does the symptoms of Aspergers get worse as a person gets older? - There is no straight forward answer to this question as everyone with Aspergers is different. However as a child we have less ways to cope, and as we get older we mature like anybody else, and the Aspergers is still there, but with certain situations such as the meltdown, we may learn to control it. We may still experience the feeling of getting a meltdown, but we learn coping mechanisms of how to respond etc. On the downside, sensory issues may worsen, and when we do something wrong on inappropriate it may not be as forgiven as it would be a child because children are supposed to have a certain level of immaturity and quirks.
